Our late Easter meet! Easter is early this year so rather than trust our luck with the weather we decided to celebrate it a little later.
The twin downland villages of Clapham and Patching are located either side of the road and most village clubs and societies are common to both. Both villages feature ancient churches, Clapham Church contains tiling by William Morris (known as ‘The Clapham Vine Pattern’) in contrast Patching Church is much simpler. Both are well worth a visit.

Duncton Village Hall is near the centre of Duncton Village, a beautiful village nestling against the South Downs in the heart of the magnificent West Sussex countryside. Situated on the A285, (GU28 0JZ) we are 11 miles from Chichester and a short hop over Duncton Hill to the sea.
The area boasts many ancient buildings including ‘The Cricketers‘, a charming 16th Century coaching inn and Duncton Mill, which dates back to 1824. The South Downs provides a large natural spring which has powered Duncton Mill since the reign of King George IV. The Mill is a listed building, in fact in total, Duncton boasts 32 listed buildings of which almost all are Grade II.
Duncton has three churches: Holy Trinity (Anglican); the Church of St. Anthony and St.George (Catholic); and the Chapel of St Richard in Burton Park which has over a thousand years of history and is renowned for its ancient wall paintings.
